VERBEKE BUNKERING N.V. is an independent Belgian family company, owned by the VERBEKE-family.

As from the end of the years 1800 this family was already active in the shipping industry, starting with dry cargo. In a later stage they switched over to tank barges for supplying gasoil to inland navigation.

For this purpose Philemon Verbeke founded in 1969 the one-man business VERBEKE BUNKERING and at the same time he made a deal with Texaco for delivery of gasoil and lubricants to inland barges. In 1972 VERBEKE BUNKERING was legal founded as Verbeke Bunkering PVBA, which was the owner of following tank barges :

- ms. “Tramp” 76 Ton
- ms. “Tramp 2” 127 Ton
- ms. “Tramp 3” 64 Ton
- ms. “Tramp 4” 350 Ton

Marnix Verbeke , son of Philemon Verbeke , joined the company in 1972.

As from that time VERBEKE BUNKERING made an extension as transporter of bunkers to seagoing vessels for account of Texaco. One of the highlights during that period (1984) was the rebuild of the barge “Star Blender”, the first barge with an inline blend installation for bunkers to seagoing vessels.

In 1982 Marnix Verbeke took over the leadership from his father Philemon en in 1990 he became Managing Director of Verbeke Bunkering N.V. Under his management the Company made an expansion as independent bunker supplier.

In 2004 Verbeke Bunkering took 2 new double hull tank barges under time-charter:
ms. “TEXAS” - 4200 MT and ms. “ADVENTURE” - 3200 MT.

Since 2001 Ryan Verbeke , son of Marnix Verbeke, joined the Company. Today Verbeke Bunkering N.V. - with Marnix Verbeke as Managing Director and Tony Vertommen as General Manager - is the leading independent bunker supplier in Belgium.
